This shipping agency in Monzen-machi Kuroshima-machi, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, got burned down in a large fire in 1871 and was rebuilt the following year. The Sea of Japan is visible from the watchtower in one corner of the main building. From there, one could check the unloading status of the Kitamae-bune (cargo vessels that sailed the Sea of Japan during the Edo period) on the coast. The interior is four and a half tatami mats (about 80 square feet) in size. The opening section is a bay window with a depth of 450mm between the screen door and the shoji window.
