This is the bedroom of a summer house. The outer face of the pine plank window shutter has been painted in falu red , which enhances its durability and also matches the color of the exterior brick. Following Finnish tradition, the planks have been installed diagonally. As the shutter provides protection against the rain, wind, and cold, the inner window consists only of a single plane of glass. The shutter also serves to shield the private space of the bedroom from the courtyard, where the Aaltos often entertained guests during the summer.
