The ICU Diffendorfer Memorial Hall has continuous windows with frames made of cast aluminum. The completion drawings reveal their intricate construction, which contrasts with contemporary window frames made of continuous extrusion molded components. The muntins, sealed with tapered caulking, are extremely slender, measuring just 6 millimeters across their faces. They are aligned in height with the balcony railings. While some of the windows were replaced during the 2021 renovations, the new windows were fabricated to replicate the aesthetic of the originals. The ICU Chapel, which stands centered with the campus’ front gate, was built onto the structural framework of the Vories-designed chapel from 1954. Its aisles are lined with slit windows, which are rotated by 45 degrees to cast light toward the altar. The inner faces of the windows are adorned with illustrations, which are attributed to Noémi Raymond. Rather than using costly stained glass, the illustrations were etched into the glass and painted.
