The Window: A Journey of Art and Architecture Through Windows
 at MOMAT, Tokyo

The Window Research Institute and the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (MOMAT) will be holding an exhibition titled The Window: A Journey of Art and Architecture Through Windows at MOMAT from November 1, 2019, to February 2, 2020.

This is an exhibition that focuses on windows. Building on over a decade of research conducted through the Window Research Institute’s Windowology research program, the show will be realized with the technical assistance of the program’s academic advisor Taro Igarashi and under the curation of MOMAT. It will feature over 110 artistic and architectural works from around the world, including paintings by Henri Matisse and Paul Klee; contemporary art pieces by Marcel Duchamp, Gerhard Richter, and Wolfgang Tillmans; and rare drawings of windows by architects such as Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn, James Stirling, and Peter Eisenman.

Following its showing at MOMAT, the exhibition will travel to the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA; Kagawa, Japan), where it will be on view from July 11 to September 27, 2020 October 13, 2020, to January 11, 2021.

Time: 10:00-17:00 ( Fridays and Saturdays open until 20:00 ) *Last admission: 30 minutes before closing.
