Casement window

A window with a sash hinged to one side of the frame, opening outward or inward by pivoting around those hinges. It generally refers to side-hinged windows, such as single casement window or double casement window, but it can also include top- or bottom-hinged variations, such as awning window or hopper window. If it opens outward, it is referred to as an outward-opening casement window, and if it opens inward, it is called an inward-opening casement window.

See also single casement window, double casement window, awning window, hopper window.
